Take every ounce of effort to make a thing happen?
Whatever your pursuit or passion in life is, it deserves your obsessive attention.
Supreme dedication and resilience will see you through whatever it is that you really want.
Have you been driving down the street, and all of a sudden a squirrel darts out to about half way in the middle of the road, only to cut a full 180 degrees and run back the same way?
Why didn’t it keep running through to the other side?
Do you act like a squirrel with your life? Jump full in on a task or a dream, then pull an “about face” and run back to the “safe side” after things get too hard.
When I began my journey as a personal trainer (in a big NYC corporate gym) back in 2001, I started my first day of “learning the ropes” the day that 2 planes hit the World Trade Center.
The city was devastated, people were traumatized and NYC changed forever.
I just happened to be starting a new chapter in my life, leaving a union job, to pursue my full-time Muay Thai fighting lifestyle, with a career to facilitate it.
The personal training industry, like many other things in the city, came to a standstill as NY was recovering and figuring out the next steps.
For months, gyms were ghost towns as fitness is thought of as a luxury and not a necessity. So that put a major strain on the start of my new financial stream while making it challenging as a single father as well.
I could’ve given up and go back to the “9 to 5” world, where it was safe.
Standing around cleaning treadmills and mirrors was not what I had imagined that I would be doing as a personal trainer.
I WAS “ALL IN”.
I HAD A PURPOSE.
I HAD A VISION.
AND I DON’T KNOW HOW TO QUIT.
Fast forward, the journey is still filled with many ups and downs, but today I am grateful that I never “cut a full 180 degrees” and ran back to the “safe side”!
We all have the fighting spirit within us to GO ALL IN.
It takes some digging to find it.
But once you do:
-ACCEPT ALL CHALLENGES
-FIGHT UNTIL THE END
BE A CHAMP ON THE UPRISE!
