Imagine yourself taking on ALL the challenges of life with a champion’s spirit, knowing that you will fight with ALL your heart to the very end:
Just like you, as far back as I can remember, life has been throwing everything (and “the kitchen sink”) at me, since I was 7 years old.
I didn’t know how to cope as a kid and young adult.
I blamed EVERYTHING and EVERYONE around me for MY misfortunes.
I figured it was, “JUST MY LUCK” or “THE HAND THAT WAS DEALT TO ME”
Maybe YOU feel the same and YOU know there’s gotta be another way, but YOU don’t how, or what to do.
What I’ve learned through the years of falling down and getting back up, throughout my childhood and fighting years is…FAILURE IS THE FUEL FOR SUCCESS.
WE CAN’T CONTROL WHAT LIFE THROWS AT US.
BUT WE CAN TAKE CONTROL OF THE WAY WE HANDLE IT.
There is NO such thing as the “perfect” or the “unscathed” life!
WE ALL go through it in our own unique ways, but it takes appreciation and gratitude to be able to keep fighting on!!
I’ve built champions in the gym, and NOW my mission is to build champions of LIFE!
So by now you may have noticed a shift in my focus. I’ve been fighting and coaching for the last 20+ years. One thing that is universal is our spirit and resilience. I want to be able to help as many people as possible dig deep, and WAKE UP that fighting spirit.
The one thing that has really stuck, that I’ve learned through a great mentor is, “to build a better life, you want to build a better YOU.”
Growing up without my father’s guidance…
Being physically abused by my 4th grade teacher and classmates…
Being beat to a pulp in a street fight…
Becoming a father at 23 years old, when I didn’t know where my own life was headed…
Were just some of the challenges I faced.
And then when I finally figured out what I wanted to do with my life in 2001, the blessings started pouring in, and my life started to make sense….Winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Thailand in 2004, scoring the 2010 Pro North American Championship belt, as “the guy who didn’t stand a chance”, and finally building the gym of my dreams with my wife and son.
But that doesn’t mean there weren’t obstacles along the way..
Jumping in the ring with Donald “the Cowboy” Cerrone at the Hall at St. Paul as an amateur and getting TKO’d in front of my parents…
Being kneed in the face and stumbling to the canvas, as my older son and pregnant wife stood by in fear, in my 2nd to last fight of my career….
Hurricane Sandy drowning our dreams, demolishing our home and gym in less than 24 hours….
But LIFE goes on…
Everything has shifted in this last year for me. I’m ready to inspire, motivate, educate and share to help you get back up when LIFE knocks YOU down!
